WBC Safety/Nursery Policies

Westbury Baptist Church is committed to the safety, welfare, and protection of all children and youth participating in the activities and programs of this church. This policy is intended to protect both the children and volunteer workers and is intended to be a helpful resource in addressing the issues of child safety. Throughout this policy, the terms "child," "children," and "youth" refer to all persons under eighteen (18) years of age. Children's programs at WBC include infant - 5th grade. The standards implemented in this Child Protection Policy (PDF) seek to uphold our commitment to the safety of the children of WBC, whether members or guests. This policy governs all volunteers enlisted to work with children in positions filled by the Minister to Children and Nominating Committee.

Nursery & Preschool FAQs
  • How do I sign my child up on Sunday mornings?

When you arrive a volunteer will ask you to fill out a registration card that provides us with important information about your child. You will be directed to the classroom where you will drop your child off. If your child is kindergarten - 5th grade, they will be shown to their classroom which is upstairs. Children 3 years and younger stay downstairs.

  • What are your safety procedures in the Early Childhood Department?

When you sign in your preschooler, you child will receive a security label with their name and any allergies they have may on the tag. Parents are given a pager. If you are needed during the service, we will page you. If the pager goes off we ask that you come back to your child's room. Parents are given a tag to pick up their children.

  • How do I know if my child should not come due to sickness?

We do not accept children who have:

    • a fever within the last 24 hours
    • yellow or greenish mucus from eyes or nose
    • excessive runny nose
    • diarrhea
    • been on antibiotics less than 24 hours
    • have vomited within the last 24 hours

  • Am I required to help in my child's room?

Parents who have children in the nursery are asked to serve once a quarter; however it is not required.
