Westbury's Sanctuary Renovation

Westbury Baptist Church's Sanctuary

On January 4, 1978, the cornerstone for the current sanctuary was set in place.  Mementos of current church programs and activities were sealed in a copper-covered lead box and placed inside the cornerstone.  Today, as we enter the sanctuary building through the portico entrance, this cornerstone reminds us that this building and what happens in it is "to the Glory of God."

How fitting it is that thirty years later we are renovating this beautiful place of worship.  On Sunday, January 20, we held our last worship in the current sanctuary before temporarily moving to the gymnasium.  The organ pipes have been removed so that the organ chambers can be cleaned.  Pew and carpet removal and minor platform demolition have been completed.  The platform will be reconfigured so that there will be more surface space than is currently present, as well as stairs that will grace the entire front of the platform.  The renovation project will take 6-8 weeks; therefore, it is our hope and desire that we will be able to return to the sanctuary by late February or early March.

Below you will find links to pages that show the progress of the sanctuary renovation, which will be updated weekly.  Note: The following pages will take longer to load due to several pictures being on each one.
